TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo men's golf team heads to West Lafayette, Ind. to participate in Purdue's Boilermaker Invitational on Saturday-Sunday, April 10-11. The two-day event will be played on Purdue's par-72, 7,465-yard Kampen Course with live scoring available at golfstat.com and on the Golfstat app.
Toledo will be competing against Mid-American Conference members Ball State, Eastern Michigan, Kent State and Miami as well as Big Ten foes Indiana, Illinois, Michigan State, Minnesota Northwestern, Ohio State, Purdue and Wisconsin. Also participating are Cincinnati, Illinois State and Southern Illinois.
"It really feels nice to be back at home in the Midwest," Head Coach Jeff Roope said. "Our guys have really run the gauntlet of tournament golf so far this year. To have a great event three or four hours from home, to have time to practice outside in the nice spring weather we've had, and to get some work on real greens heading into Purdue, it all feels like a breath of fresh air. We are excited that the whole team is traveling to West Lafayette and that they'll all have a chance to compete heading into MACs in a couple weeks."
Toledo's lineup will include senior Nate Thomson at No. 1, freshman Barend Botha at No. 2, sophomore NJ Botha at No. 3, junior Muhammed Afif Mohd Fathi at No. 4 and junior David Amm at No. 5.
Freshman Jamie Tofte Nielsen is competing in an individual event at Purdue's par-71, 7,109-yard Ackerman-Allen Golf Course on Saturday and Sunday.
Toledo is participating in the Boilermaker Invitational for the 12th time in the last 14 seasons. The Rockets posted their top finish in the event with a fourth-place showings in 2018.
