Toledo Set to Visit Bowling Green on Friday

TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo women's tennis team visits Bowling Green on Friday, April 2. with the match set for a 1:00 p.m. start.

"I think our young team is getting better every time we step on the court," head coach Tracy Mauntler said. "The players have been extremely motivated after our 4-3 loss last time around against BG."

Cassie Alcala Named MAC Singles Player of the Week
Freshman Cassie Alcala was named MAC Singles Player of the Week for the second time this season on Wednesday.

The Pickerington, Ohio native was 2-0 in singles play over the weekend, defeating Eastern Michigan's Isabelle Popma (6-2, 6-1) on Friday and Ball State's Emma Peeler (7-6 (7-3), 6-3) to improve to 10-3 in singles play this season and 8-3 when playing on the top court. Alcala is 4-1 in singles play against MAC opponents, all of which came on the No. 1 court.

Last Time Out
The Rockets dropped two very close matches over the weekend, falling at Eastern Michigan on Friday by a score of 4-3 and losing by the same score at Ball State on Sunday.

In Friday's defeat at the hands of the Eagles, the match came down to the No. 4 court where EMU was able to secure a victory to clinch a 4-3 decision. At Ball State, the Rockets played the MAC-leading Cardinals very tough, but fell behind 3-0 and couldn't overcome the early deficit. Alcala was joined by freshman Shalini Tallamraju and sophomore Sloane Teske as winners in singles play.

About Bowling Green
The Falcons are 8-4 entering Friday's match, most recently defeating Miami at home last Sunday, 5-2. BGSU won the last meeting between these two teams on March 21, a 4-3 decision that came down to the final match.
