TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo men's tennis team hosted Northern Illinois on Friday, losing 6-1 to the Huskies in a match played at the UT Varsity Tennis Courts.

"Northern Illinois played well, and managed the conditions very well," head coach Al Wermer said. "We're better than what we showed today--much better."

Conditions proved to be quite windy on Friday, but the Huskies managed to come away victorious. They took the doubles point by winning on courts No. 1 and 3 to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

In singles play, sophomore Krzysztof Wetoszka defeated his NIU counterpart on the No. 2 singles court (7-5, 6-4) to give the Rockets their only win of the day. Wetoszka improved to 5-1 in singles play with his victory on Friday.

Junior Cole Shoults competed on the No. 1 singles court for the sixth time this season. Rounding out the singles lineup for Toledo was senior Thawin Suksathaporn on the No. 3 court, freshman Adam Kovac on court No. 4, freshman Wojciech Szczesny on the No. 5 court, and sophomore Max Skaer on court No. 6.

Toledo returns to the court on Sunday afternoon to host Western Michigan at 2:00 p.m. That match is also scheduled to be played outdoors.
