YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The University of Toledo women's tennis team dropped its Friday afternoon match at Youngstown State, 5-2.
"Youngstown State came out with lots of fire today," head coach
Tracy Mauntler said. "We didn't control the controllables well enough to beat an experienced team like that. With such a young team, we will learn from this and get better."
In doubles play, Toledo's duo of freshman
Cassie Alcala and sophomore
Laura Morera were able to defeat their YSU counterparts on the No. 3 court, but the Penguins won on courts No. 1 and 2 to win the doubles point.
The Rockets managed two victories in singles play. Alcala defeated Cecilia Rosas on the No. 2 court (6-3, 6-1) and Morera took down Jessica Stanmore (7-6, 6-3) on the No. 6 court. The rest of Toledo's lineup featured sophomore
