YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The University of Toledo men's tennis team lost to Youngstown State on Friday evening, 6-1.

"This was a cold punch in the mouth that we can use to our advantage," head coach Al Wermer said. "The guys fought really hard, but this will serve us well down the road."

Youngstown State won the doubles point by claiming victories on courts No. 2 and 3, while the doubles tandem of Cole Shoults and Krzysztof Wetoszka stayed undefeated this year by defeating their YSU counterparts, 6-4.

In singles play the lone Rocket to win his match was Wetoszka (7-6, 7-1), who is now 3-0 on the No. 3 court this year. The rest of Toledo's singles lineup featured Cole Shoults on the top court, Thawin Suksathaporn on court No. 2, Adam Kovac on the No. 4 court, Filip Zupancic on court No. 5, and Luis Kleinschnitz on court No. 6.

The Rockets host three matches next weekend. They will face Cleveland State on Friday, Feb. 26 at 1:00 p.m., Tiffin on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., and Xavier on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. All three matches are set to take place at Shadow Valley Tennis Club.
