ATHENS, Ohio – Toledo registered more scoring opportunities and shots on goal at Ohio on Sunday afternoon but came up on the short end of a 1-0 decision to the Bobcats (7-3-1, 3-0-1 MAC) at Chessa Field.
Â
The Bobcats' Sarina Dirrig netted the game's lone goal at the 69:30 mark when she tapped in the ball following an Ohio corner kick.
Â
The Rockets (7-3-2, 2-2-0 MAC) owned an 11-8 shot advantage as well as a 6-2 cushion in shots on goal. Sophomore Ellie Pool topped Toledo with three shots on goal.
Â
"We didn't capitalize enough on our offensive chances to score today," Head Coach T.J. Buchholz said. "It was unfortunate to not get a goal with the opportunities that were there for us. Credit to Ohio for making a play on their corner kick to get the game-winner. We need to regroup this week and find a way to be much better in front of the goal. Miami and Ball State are coming up and they are strong MAC teams this year."
Â
Toledo returns to action on Thursday, Oct. 7 when it travels to Oxford, Ohio to face Miami. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
