Toledo Readies for First Round of MAC Tournament

TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo begins the postseason in a quarterfinal match of the Mid-American Conference Tournament at Kent State on Sunday. Toledo (10-5-4, 5-4-3 MAC) enters the tourney as the No. 6 seed and will play the No. 3 seed Golden Flashes in a 1:00 p.m. contest at Dix Stadium.

Toledo closed out its regular season in a 1-0 overtime loss to archrival Bowling Green Thursday evening, the first loss for the Rockets since Oct. 7.

For the season, the Rockets are allowing a MAC-low 0.63 goals per game. Sophomore goalkeeper Emma Boutorwick leads the conference with a 0.864 SV%, a 0.60 GAA, and nine shutouts. Freshman Olivia Dault and sophomore Ellie Pool pace the team with six goals apiece.
 
Toledo and Kent State met earlier this season on Sept. 30, with the Rockets falling short 2-1 in overtime. Kent State scored first before freshman midfielder Olivia Dault evened the score at 1-1 at the 49 minute mark. The Golden Flashes went on to end the game five minutes into overtime and give the Rockets their first conference loss.

Kent State Update (11-4-3, 7-1-3 MAC)
Kent State closed out its regular season with a 0-0 draw with Ohio on Thursday to earn a No. 3 seed. Redshirt Senior Cameron Sheldenhelm paces the Golden Flashes with 10 goals and four assists. Junior goalie Sarah Melen ranks seventh in the MAC with a 1.23 GGA and fifth with a .787 SV%.

Inside the Numbers
  • McKenna Schultz leads the Rocket defenders in minutes played (1,808) and has played all but four minutes this season.
  • Claire Cahalan leads Toledo's midfielders with 1,732 minutes, while Ellie Pool tops the forwards with 1,738 minutes.
  • Pool leads the Rockets with 46 shots followed by Stephanie "Stitch" Currie (37) and Olivia Dault (34). Pool and Dault have 21 shots on goal apiece.
  • Toledo has allowed just three first-half goals this season. The Rockets are outscoring their opposition by a 7-3 margin in the first half, 16-7 in the second and are 1-2 in overtime.
In Goal
Emma Boutorwick has been a force in goal for the Rockets this season. She has nine shutouts through the regular season, leads the MAC with an .864 SV% and a .579 GAA. She is also  tied for fourth in the nation in shutouts.
