GREENSBORO, N.C. – Toledo closed out its fall season with a team score of nine-under par 855 and a second-place finish on Sunday at the Grandover Collegiate. The runner-up showing gave the Rockets a fourth-place finish or higher in their last three tournaments.
Senior Lukas Clark led the way in today's final round with a one-under par 71. Classmates David Amm and Max Siegfried were one stroke behind Clark at even-par 72.
Sophomores Barend Botha (68-68-73) and Jamie Tofte Nielsen (67-67-76) notched fourth- and fifth-place finishes to lead the Rockets overall at seven-under and six-under par, respectively. Clark tied for 20th place at two-over 218, Amm tied for 48th place at eight-over 224 and Siegfried tied for 60th place at 11-over 227.
"We have a team full of guys who expect par or better to be the norm instead of the outlier," Head Coach Jeff Roope said. "The best teams are going to have their entire lineup capable of contributing every round and we're getting closer to that. We are learning how to play complete tournaments, but we're still falling a lit bit short of the consistency we're aiming for. When we get to that point, it will be exciting to see the potential our guys possess."
Toledo will be back in action on Feb. 7-8 at Ball State's Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play event in Dade City, Fla.
