PORT CLINTON, Ohio – Sophomore Cheryl Hong tied for third place to lead Toledo to a second-place showing in the Rocket Classic on Tuesday. The Rockets finished with a team score of 925 at the par-72, 6,118-yard Catawba Island Club, 25 strokes behind tournament champion Central Michigan.

Hong shot one-over par 73s in the second and third round and strung together three consecutive birdies today on the sixth, seventh and eighth holes en route to best showing of her collegiate career.

Also finishing in the Top 10 for the Rockets were junior Amelia Lee (76-74-80) and sophomore Angel Hii (75-77-78), who tied for ninth place at 230.

Freshman Yedam Lee (80-78-81) tied for 31st place at 239, while sophomore Macy Hanus (82-88-83) finished in 56th place at 253.

"Cheryl played very solid, made some great adjustments and is continuing to buy into her mental and emotional process," Head Coach Jenny Coluccio said. "It was also good to see Amelia and Angel finish in the Top 10 and see more of the pieces they are working on come together. We are getting closer to refining our process and decision-making on the golf course and I thought we played the golf course well in tough windy conditions."

Freshman Cameron Ford (47th/83-82-82) paced the four Rockets competing as individuals. She was joined by junior Claudia Sampson (58th/89-80-87), junior Kathryn Roth (59th/88-85-84) and sophomore Kait Natividad (T-61st/89-86-86).

The Rockets will return to action next week with a trip to Branson, Mo., for their final fall tournament at the Ozark National Invitational.
