TOLEDO, Ohio – Junior forward Stephanie "Stitch" Currie broke a 1-1 tie with just over three minutes remaining in regulation to give Toledo a 2-1 victory over Ball State at Paul Hotmer Field on Sunday.

The game was scoreless until Ball State found the back of the net at the 83-minute mark. But the Cardinals would only hold the lead for 19 seconds as senior midfielder Claire Cahalan scored from 40 yards out to tie the score at 1-1. Minutes later, Currie took a pass from freshman midfielder Olivia Dault, moved past three BSU defenders, and pushed a shot past the goalkeeper.

Toledo snapped a three-game losing streak to move its record to 8-4-2, 3-3 MAC. Ball State fell to 4-7-1, 2-3-1 MAC.

"This was a great win for our team today," Head Coach TJ Buchholz said. "Ball State is a very good team, and they were very difficult for us to deal with for 90 minutes. We had to battle back down a goal late but our team never quit. I'm proud of our team's resiliency in the face of adversity."

Toledo returns to action on Thursday, Oct. 14 when it hosts Central Michigan at Paul Hotmer Field. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. (ESPN3).

24' | Emma Boutorwick made a jumping save on a shot by Kennedy Metzger that sailed to the high right corner of the net.
26' | Ball State had a chance to take the lead with an open net, but defender Betsy Lueck made a running save across the net to keep the game scoreless heading into halftime.
68' | Ball State drew Emma Boutorwick out of the net, but the shot missed the goal by inches as it deflected off the left post.
83' | GOAL Ball State's Nickie Potts flicked one across the net to the left post and Tatiana Mason tapped the ball in to put the Cardinals on the board.

87' | GOAL Olivia Dault lobbed one up down center field and found Stitch Currie, who ran through three defenders and sent the ball to the back of the net for the deciding goal.

STATS, NOTES AND NUMBERS

All three goals in the game were scored in a five-minute span late in the second half, Toledo's two goals were scored about three minutes apart, at the 84th and 87th minute mark.
Both Claire Cahalan's and Stich Currie's goals were their second of the season. Currie's goal was also her second game-winner.
