CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Toledo men's tennis team extended its win streak to eight as it tallied its third sweep of the season, defeating non-conference opponent North Alabama, 7-0, in Chattanooga on Thursday.
"We had a really nice start considering there were a lot of delays today," said head coach Al Wermer. "Again, these guys love competing together."
The Rockets quickly secured the doubles point with a 6-1 win on the No. 1 court from senior Danilo Vukotic/junior Filip Zupancic and a 6-3 win on the No. 2 court from sophomore Cole Shoults/freshman Krzysztof Wetoszka.
The Midnight Blue and Gold tallied two-set victories on all six singles courts, which led to the team's third sweep of the season. Vukotic defeated Yannick Pfleiderer 6-2, 6-0 on the No. 1 court, while Wetoszka defeated Gustavo Girao, 6-1 in both of his sets. On the No. 4 and No. 5 courts freshman Luis Kleinschnitz and senior Thawin Suksathaporn shut out their oppoents with matching scores of 6-1, 6-0. Shoults defeated Andreas Hansen 6-2, 6-4 on the No. 3 court, and freshman Max Skaer downed Tim Heslin 6-2, 6-3 on the No. 6 court.
