Toledo Finishes 10th at Border Olympics in Texas

LAREDO, Texas – Senior Rasmus Broholt Lind posted a season-best 15th-place finish on Tuesday to help the Toledo men's golf team to a 10th-place showing at the University of Houston's Border Olympics. The Rockets finished with a team score of 889 at the par-72, 7,220-yard Max Mandel Municipal Golf Course

"The golf course was challenging today and pretty typical of what you'd expect in Texas - dusty, dry and hot," Head Coach Jeff Roope said. "With that being said we need to continue to learn to handle adversity if we are going to maximize our potential.  When we manage the challenges we're a good team; when we don't we are vulnerable. We'll go back to work."

Lind, who finished the tournament with a two-over par 218, opened his final round with eight pars before bogeying two of his next three holes. He rebounded though by collecting three birdies down the stretch en route to an even-par 72.

Seniors Nate Thomson (74-73-75) and Grant Godfrey (76-72-76) tied for 35th and 44th place with scores of six-over par 222 and eight-over par 224, respectively. Rounding out the Rocket lineup were sophomores Muhammed Afif Mohd Fathi (T-66th/76-73-79=228) and David Amm (T-76th/79-73-82=234).

Louisiana-Monroe came from nine strokes behind to win the tournament title at three-under par 861. Sam Houston State's Noah Steele earned medalist honors at nine-under 207.

Toledo returns to action in nearly two weeks when it travels to Alabama for Auburn's Tiger Invitational on Sunday-Tuesday, March 8-10.
