CLEVELAND, Ohio – Senior forward
Willie Jackson has been named Mid-American Conference West Division Co-Player of the Week for the second time this season, the league office announced on Monday. It is the sixth time this season a Rocket has earned the weekly accolade.
Jackson tallied his 15th double-double of the season with a team-high 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Rockets to a 68-59 victory over Western Michigan. Jackson also blocked a season-high three shots, hit 6-of-11 shots from the field and 7-of-8 from the charity stripe.
Jackson scored 11 of his points and blocked all three of his shots in the final 20 minutes to help Toledo rally from an eight-point second-half deficit to match the Rockets' biggest comeback of the season.
Jackson ranks third nationally with a MAC-best 11.9 rpg and is tied for eighth nationally with 15 double-doubles.
Toledo is back in action tomorrow night when it travels to Mt. Pleasant, Mich. to face Central Michigan. Tip-off time is set for 7:00 p.m. in McGuirk Arena.
