Senior Austin Parks leads Toledo with 23 points

FINDLAY, Ohio – The inside tandem of Austin Parks and Jaylan Ouwinga sparked the Toledo men's basketball team to an 88-78 exhibition victory over NCAA Division II foe Findlay on Sunday afternoon before nearly 1,000 fans at Niekamp Arena.

Parks led the Rockets with 23 points and six rebounds, with Ouwinga tallying 13 points and five boards.

'I thought we started extremely nervous with first-game jitters which is normal with a new team and new roles," Head Coach Tod Kowalczyk said. "Our energy level and our defense certainly picked up in the second half against a Findlay team that played great. I thought Austin and Wingo played pretty well the whole game. We needed to get them more touches."

The Rockets went on a 14-0 run midway through the second half to take control of the contest.

Toledo will play its final exhibition game next weekend when it hosts Northern Illinois on Sunday, Oct. 25 in Savage Arena. Tip-off time is set for noon.
