TOLEDO, Ohio -Â The University of Toledo heads to Virginia for a two-day tournament hosted by Norfolk State and Hampton Feb. 21-22. The Rockets are scheduled to play four games over the three-day tournament, beginning with a noon game against Radford on Friday in Norfolk, Va.

The Rockets are led in the circle by junior
Erin Hunt. Hunt was named Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Week after leading Toledo to two wins at the H.E.B. Classic. She threw for 15.0 innings with a 0.46 ERA and no walks. At the plate, junior
Dayna Denner led the way for the Rockets, going 7-for-17 with one home runs and seven RBIs. Denner's five RBIs against Texas Southern is tied for second in program history for RBIs in a single game.
SCOUTING RADFORD
Radford enters the Pirate Classic with a 4-1 record, claiming two wins over Siena, and one win over Morgan State and Norfolk State. The Highlanders return 10 players and welcome seven newcomers this season. Senior Sofia Tapia saw action in 59 games last season, tallying 47 hits that included two home runs and 10 doubles. Hunter Mundy led the team in home runs last year, hitting 13 - third-most in the Big South.
SCOUTING NORFOLK STATE
Norfolk State is 2-2 to start the season, claiming wins over Robert Morris and South Carolina State at the Blue Hose Invitational. Junior Skylar Swain got the win for the Spartans against Robert Morris, allowing four hits and one in in 5.1 innings of work. Sophomore Lily Potter earned the win over South Carolina State, allowing four hits and one earned run with four strikeouts in six innings of work.
SCOUTING SACRED HEART
Sacred Heart was picked to finish third in the Northeast Conference. Last year, the Pioneers playoff run was but short, as SHU fell to Saint Francis U in the opening round of the NEC Tournament before dropping the elimination game to Mount Saint Mary's in a tight 4-3 loss. THe Pioneers finished the 2019 season with a 28-27 overall record and an 11-5 record in NEC play.
SCOUTING HAMPTON
Hampton enters the Pirate Classic with a 5-1 record, claiming victories over North Carolina A&T State, George Washington, and DePaul. Jackie Gonzalez was named Big South Freshman of the Week last week. Gonzalez was 8-for-17 for a team-best .471 average while scoring five runs and driving in five in five games. She had three two-hit games.
ON DECK
The Rockets will hit the road for their third tournament of the 2020 season, traveling to North Carolina for the UNCW Softball Invitaitonal hosted by UNC-Wilmington.
