Toledo to Open Conference Play at EMU on Friday Night

12/3/2020 12:00:00 PM

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo men's basketball team (2-2) opens its 70th season of Mid-American Conference play on Friday, Dec. 4 when it travels to Ypsilanti, Mich. to face Eastern Michigan (0-1). The contest will be streamed on ESPN3 with a tip-off time of 7:00 p.m. in the Convocation Center.

Toledo has featured a balanced attack in the season's early stages with freshman Ryan Rollins and junior Setric Millner Jr. tying for the team scoring lead at 15.5 ppg. Seniors Marreon Jackson and Spencer Littleson are also averaging in double figures with 15.0 and 12.5 ppg, respectively.

Millner is the Rockets' top rebounder with 9.3 rpg, thanks to an impressive 17-point, 15-rebound effort at Xavier (Nov. 27). Jackson is dishing out a team-high 6.0 apg and has also grabbed a team-best 2.0 spg.

Toledo rallied from a 14-point first-half deficit to win Tuesday's home opener over Cleveland State, 70-61, in Savage Arena. Millner topped Toledo with 17 points with Rollins (15 pts.), Jackson (14 pts., team-high five assists) and Littleson (12 pts.) also scoring in double digits. Littleson came up big in the second half, scoring all 12 of his points after intermission. He knocked down a pair of three-pointers in the final four minutes that completed the Rocket comeback.

Eastern Michigan has played only one game this season, dropping an 83-67 decision at Michigan State on Nov. 25. Senior Yeikson Montero paced the Eagles with 16 points and six rebounds.

Toledo split its two contests vs. EMU last year with the home team emerging victorious each meeting. Jackson and Littleson led the Rockets with 26 and 19 points, respectively, in their 79-57 home win on March 6.
