TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo women's volleyball team announced the signing of two student-athletes for the 2021 season on Thursday. Anna Alford (Hilliard, Ohio) and Elaine Redman (Chattanooga, Tenn.) are officially the two newest members of the Rocket volleyball program.

Anna Alford | 6-4 | Middle Blocker | Hilliard, Ohio | Hilliard Bradley

Alford is a three-time varsity letterwinner at Hilliard Bradley High School. In three seasons, she averaged 2.7 kills/set and hit .263 while also averaging 1.2 blocks/set. Alford is a two-time All-Ohio Capital Conference honoree and she helped her team to a 22-3 record as a junior in 2019. Hilliard Bradley won a share of its first league championship since 2013 that year and reached the OHSAA Regional Semifinals.

Head coach Jason Oliver on Anna: "Anna is a player that we have been watching develop for a long time now. I truly feel she fits in with our program perfectly. She is long and athletic with a good feel for the game. I think the untapped potential that she has is huge. She plays for a great club and has had really good coaches mentor her in her career. With a redshirt year and time to grow her game, she will be a force in the MAC.  Anna not only is gifted athletically she also has a great student-athlete mentality, and I am excited to see her grow while wearing a Rocket uniform."

Elaine Redman | 6-0 | Setter | Chattanooga, Tenn. | Baylor School

Elaine was a three-time varsity letterwinner for Baylor School and helped her team to two TSAA Division II Runner-Up finishes during her career. One of the best setters in the state of Tennessee, she was a two-time all-state honoree and was named to the Best of Preps team by the Chattanooga Times Free Press as a junior.

Head coach Jason Oliver on Elaine: "There are some players that as a recruiter you are drawn to and Elaine is one of those players for me. We have been recruiting her since she was 15 years old and I just feel like her development has been amazing. The thing that I really like about her is she is four plays ahead of everyone on the floor. Her volleyball IQ and game sense is astounding. That's exactly what you're looking for in a setter. I truly think that Elaine can help take us to the top of the league with that combo of athletic ability and volleyball IQ that is off the charts."
