TOLEDO, Ohio - Head Coach Tod Kowalczyk announced the signing of Kooper Jacobi (Sellersburg, Ind.) to a national letter of intent to attend the University of Toledo on Wednesday. Jacobi will join the Rocket men's basketball program prior to the start of the 2021-22 academic year.
"We're really excited to have Kooper join our Toledo Basketball family," Kowalczyk said. "He's a do-it-everything type forward who's extremely skilled and tough. He plays very hard and is a very good shooter and passer. Kooper is also an unbelievable student with great character who has been well coached in a winning program. That's something we value a great deal."
A 6-foot-6, 195-pound forward, Jacobi averaged 17.7 ppg, 7.7 rpg and 2.5 apg last year at Silver Creek High School and was ranked as the 15th-best player in Indiana by 247Sports. The Dragons were 25-2 entering the regional semifinals and ranked No. 1 in Indiana's Class 3A poll prior to their season being cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.Â
As a sophomore, Jacobi averaged 13.9 ppg, 7.1 rpg and 2.5 apg and shot 61 percent from the field to help Silver Creek capture the Indiana Class 3A Championship. He also led his team in field-goal percentage as a freshman and sophomore, free-throw percentage as a sophomore and junior and three-point field-goal percentage as a junior.
