5/7/2019 2:00:00 PM

Toledo, Ohio - Five Toledo softball student-athletes earned conference postseason honors, the Mid-American Conference announced today. Senior Kaitlyn Bergman was named to the All-MAC first team while sophomore Erin Hunt, senior Megan Choate and senior Katie Cozy earned spots on the All-MAC second team. Freshman Aubrey Reed was named to the All-Freshman team. The All-MAC teams were determined from voting by the league's head coaches.

"We're thrilled that Berg got first-team," head coach Joe Abraham said.  "She just came on so strong in the second half the season and had so many clutch hits and home runs for us while doing an unbelievable job behind the plate. She deserved this and it's a great way to end her career."

"We finished a little bit over five hundred and got five on the teams which is really good," Abraham added. "It was nice to see three seniors get rewarded that way. They all deserved it—Megan, Kaitlyn, Katie, Erin and Aubrey—they all deserved it."

Bergman holds a .267/.431/.526 slash line and paces the team in both homers and multi-hit RBI games with nine each. The Lebanon, Ohio native rocked a program-best 19-game on-base streak and is currently tied for most homers in a Toledo career, leaving the park nine times this season to bring her career total to 22. Bergman's name appears in the Toledo record books 14 times. She is tied for most hits in a game, holds the record for most runs in a single contest, is tied for most homers in a game, and is tied for second-most RBIs in a single game.

Choate is batting a career-high .307 and has notched 14 doubles, five homers and 21 RBIs with 27 walks for a team-high .435 OBP. Her .518 slugging percentage ranks second on the Rockets and she's tied for most runs scored with 35.  The Montesano, Wash. native is also currently riding a 13-game on-base streak. Her name appears 12 times in the UT record books, most notably in the individual season records where she is the only Rocket to surpass 100 assists in three seasons. Choate also ranks sixth all-time in runs scored, fourth in total walks, ninth in home runs, and fourth in times hit by pitch.

Cozy has been Toledo's frontrunner at the plate in recent weeks. The Louisville, Ohio native holds a .329/.381/.516 slash line and has contributed 12 doubles, six homers and 30 RBIs this year. Her 40 career doubles rank fourth all-time at Toledo. In her four seasons as a Rocket, the Louisville, Ohio native has recorded a .283 batting average, scoring 47 runs on 140 hits with 40 doubles, four triples, 16 homers, and 82 RBIs. Cozy's name appears nine times in the Toledo record book, most notably in the career highs section where she's fourth in the program in doubles, fifth in slugging percentage, and tied for seventh in home runs.

Hunt has been a standout since transferring to Toledo from Division II Hillsdale. Going 11-11 with two saves in 137.1 innings. Hunt is fifth in the conference in strikeouts this season with 158, which is also the fifth-most in a single season at Toledo. Her 2.65 ERA and .210 opposing batting average rank fourth and second in the league, respectively, too. Hunt started the year by striking out a record 14 Saint Louis batters in her first Division I start which broke the previous Rocket record of 12 set by Amy Lokowski 1999. The Dansville, Mich. native has also pitched five shutouts.

Reed is having a breakout freshman season, hitting .301 in 32 games and contributing nine runs, 22 hits, four doubles and a dinger with 16 RBIs. The Birchwood, Tenn. native has been hit four times at the plate and worked nine walks. In the heart of the season, Reed reached base in 10 consecutive games and has eight multi-hit contests.
