Toledo Has Rough Outing Against Wolverines

Ann Arbor, Mich. - The Toledo softball team (10-19) fell 24-3 in five innings to Michigan (24-10) today in a midweek matchup in Ann Arbor. The Rockets were out hit 12-5 but earned runs thanks to senior Katie Cozy, sophomore Ami Ill, and freshman Raquel Emery.

  • The Wolverines came out hot, scoring all of their runs in the opening three frames.
  • Toledo broke the shutout in the top of the fourth when Cozy hit a leadoff home run, her fourth of the season, over the right field fence. The Rockets then loaded the bases and brought in a second run when Emery grounded out to second, the putout allowing senior Kaitlyn Bergman to come home. The score was Emery's first RBI of her collegiate career.
  • Toledo's final run came from a single up the middle from Ill that brought around junior Samantha Golden for her seventh touch-in of the year.
