Rockets Wrap Up Play in The Goodwin

STANFORD, Calif. – The Toledo men's golf team concluded play at The Goodwin on Saturday with a 13-over par 293 to finish in a 19th-place tie with No. 47 Saint Mary's. The Rockets shot a 41-over par 881 (301-287-293) during the 54-hole event.

Freshman Muhammed Afif Mohd Fathi and sophomore Dylan Van Fossen led Toledo with their best outings in a Rocket uniform. Mohd Fathi finished in a 37th-place tie at six-over par 216 (74-69-73), while Van Fossen tied for 54th place at nine-over par 219 (73-73-73).

Mohd Fathi played his first seven holes at even-par before bogeying his last two holes before the turn. Van Fossen was one-over par through 14 holes but registered a pair of bogeys on his final four holes.

Rounding out the Rocket lineup was sophomore Grant Godfrey (77-71-75) and senior Duncan McNeill (77-74-72) at 13-over par 223 with junior Rasmus Broholt Lind at 19-over par 229 (77-76-76).

"It was nice to see the guys battle hard this week and eliminate some of the mistakes that have plagued them in previous events," Head Coach Jeff Roope said. "They should be proud of their effort, but they still have a long list of things to improve on."

Host No. 31 Stanford captured the tournament title with an impressive seven-under par 832, 18 strokes in front of No. 6 USC. The Cardinal's Brandon Wu and David Snyder tied for first place at four-under par 206 with Wu winning the title in a playoff.

The Rockets will be off next weekend before returning to action at the Stitch Intercollegiate in Raleigh, N.C. on April 12-13.
