TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's golf team will receive the first of two final tuneups for the Mid-American Conference Championships when it competes in the Memphis Women's Intercollegiate on Monday-Tuesday, April 1-2 in Germantown, Tenn. An 8:30 a.m. shotgun start will be held for each day of competition.
Toledo won its first two events this spring at the Grand Canyon Invitational in Phoenix, Ariz. and the Battle at Boulder Creek in Boulder City, Nev. before posting an 11th-place showing at the Valspar Augusta Invitational. Head Coach Jenny Coluccio has been pleased with the continued growth her squad has displayed since the start of the spring season in February.
Â
"We have improved our course strategy and mental games in a variety of ways on the course this spring," the Rockets' first-year head coach said. "Belief and self-trust have been our top two areas of focus as well as having a better understanding of our golf strengths and how to plan a strategy to play a course around those strengths. Leading into the MAC, we are continuing to work on a wide variety of short game shots as well as mentally how to adjust the plan quickly."
Â
Toledo will be facing a solid field in Memphis that includes four schools ranked in Golfstat's Top 100 rankings and will be playing at the par-71, 6,105-yard Ridgeway Country Club.
"We are excited to play in Memphis and Ridgeway Country Club is a great course to compete on," Coluccio said. "The course is fairly straightforward and will be a good test for applying what we learned at our last event in Augusta."
Pinyada Kuvanun is leading the Rockets with a 72.8 stroke average with classmates Pimchanok Kawil and Natcha Daengpiem close behind with 74.6 and 75.1 marks, respectively. Junior Saranlak Tumfong possesses a 76.9 stroke mark.
Following its trip to Memphis, Toledo will compete in Ohio State's Lady Buckeye Invitational on April 13-14 before heading to Noblesville, Ind. for the MAC Championships on April 19-21.

UT also has posted the third- and fourth-best rounds in school history this season with a 286 and 288 in the first two rounds of the MAC Preview, respectively.
The Rockets' 13-over par 877 at the Grand Canyon Invitational ranked third in program history, five shots behind UT's eight-over 872 at the 2016 Mid-American Conference Championships.
