STANFORD, Calif. – Sophomore Dylan Van Fossen and freshman Muhammed Afif Mohd Fathi led the Toledo men's golf team on Thursday in the first round of The Goodwin hosted by Stanford University.

The Rockets shot 21-over par 301 as a team. Washington leads the 27-team field with a two-under par 278, one stroke in front of the host Cardinal. The tournament features 13 teams ranked in the Top 50 of this week's Golfstat rankings and is the most challenging tourney UT is competing in this season.

Van Fossen and Mohd Fathi were the only Rockets to collect two birdies today on the legendary par-70, 6,758 yard Stanford Golf Course.

Van Fossen bogeyed his first two holes but responded by playing his final 16 holes at one-over par en route to carding a team-best score of three-over par 73. Mohd Fathi registered three double bogeys in his first 12 holes but finished his round with six consecutive pars en route to a four-over par 74.

Rounding out the Rocket lineup with seven-over par 77s were senior Duncan McNeill, junior Rasmus Broholt Lind and sophomore Grant Godfrey.

The tournament's second round will be played tomorrow with the final round scheduled for Saturday.
