Toledo, Ohio – The University of Toledo women's tennis team defeated Horizon League foe Wright State, 5-2, at Twos Athletic Club on Saturday. The Rockets' victory was built solely on singles points.Â

Despite freshman/senior duo Christina Fuller/Claire Aleck's 6-2 win on the No. 3 court, the Rockets dropped the doubles point.Â
In singles play, senior Kokoro Chishaki, junior Dee Dee Leenabanchong, and freshmen Eileen Carney and Christina Fuller swept their opponents in two sets. At the No. 6 spot senior Claire Aleck locked in for a three-set thriller, taking the first set 6-2 before dropping the second 3-6. Aleck bounced back to clinch the win 10-8 in the third set.Â

"I'm proud of the way the team responded after losing the doubles point," said head coach Tracy Mauntler. "The passion and fire were evident in the singles matches."Â

The Rockets improve to 4-1 on the season as they look to open road play next Friday.Â
