Boston, Mass. – Senior
Petronela Simiuc moved to No. 3 All-Time at Toledo in the mile run with a time of 4:42.92 at the David Hemrey Valentine Invitational, hosted by Boston University. Simiuc landed 15th with junior
Athena Welsh following shortly to take 16th, clocking a time of 4:45.14. Senior
Janelle Noe took 32nd with a time of 4:51.43.
Simiuc's time is a five-second improvement on her personal record.
"Petronela had a very good race today," head coach Linh Nguyen said. "She was smart and finished very well. Janelle and Athena had solid races, but just didn't feel great today. That happens in distance running but their fitness is good so I'm confident they will be ready to go in two weeks for MAC championships."
The Rockets were represented by senior
Jennifer Lichter and freshman
Claire Steigerwald in the 5000m. Lichter finished 15th with a time of 16:54.63, with Steigerwald following close behind, taking 16th with a time of 16:54.63.
"I'm very happy with Jen and Claire's race," said Nguyen. "They worked together the entire time and ran very well. Jen was close to her best and for Claire to break 17 minutes in her debut is a great indicator of what she can do in the future."
