Pinyada Kuvanun Selected as Candidate for Arnold Palmer Cup

TOLEDO, Ohio – University of Toledo senior Pinyada Kuvanun has been selected as a candidate to compete in the 2019 Arnold Palmer Cup. The annual Ryder Cup-style competition pits American men's and women's collegiate golfers against their counterparts from around the world and will be played June 7-9 at The Alotian Club in Roland, Ark. This year's Arnold Palmer Cup teams will be announced on Wednesday, March 6 on the Golf Channel's Golf Central.

Kuvanun paced the Rockets with a 72.5 stroke average in the fall and shot even-par or lower in eight of her 15 rounds. She carded a career-best five-under par 67 en route to winning the Idle Hour Collegiate (Nov. 5-6) with a six-under par 210 (72-71-67). She also carded an impressive one-under par 215 (74-71-70) at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational (Oct. 5-7).

"It is a great honor for me to be considered for selection to the Arnold Palmer Cup team," Kuvanun said. "The best players in collegiate golf have participated in the past, and I'm excited for the potential to be included as well. I will continue to work hard this spring and be ready if they do choose me for the team."

The Arnold Palmer Cup was co-founded by Arnold Palmer and The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and began at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando, Fla. in 1997. The Arnold Palmer Cup has been played at some of the world's greatest courses including The Old Course, The Royal County Down, Royal Portrush, Baltusrol, The Honors Course, and Cherry Hills.

Since its inception, over 100 former Arnold Palmer Cup alumni have gone on to earn cards on either the PGA Tour, European Tour or LPGA, 28 have represented Europe or the USA in the Ryder Cup or Presidents Cup, and more than 50 have claimed over 200 victories on the PGA or European Tours. The United States leads the series 12-9-1.
