SETTING THE SCENE
The Toledo men's basketball team (3-2) won't have much time to regroup from Thursday night's heartbreaking 64-62 (OT) loss at Notre Dame when it hosts NAIA foe Northwestern Ohio (2-5) on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 2:00 p.m. The Racers will have even less time prepare for the Rockets though. UNOH will host Mount Vernon Nazarene on Friday night before coming to the Glass City.
The Rockets let a five-point lead over the Fighting Irish slip away in the final minute of regulation. Notre Dame tied the game on a buzzer-beater and then used a 6-0 spurt in the final 30 seconds of the extra session to secure the victory.
       Junior
Marreon Jackson paced the Rockets with 23 points to go along with eight rebounds and a team-high four steals. Seniors
Luke Knapke (16 pts., 11 reb.) and
Willie Jackson (11 pts., career-high 20 reb.) also registered double-doubles to help Toledo dominate the glass by a 57-46 margin.
      Â
Marreon Jackson leads Toledo offensively with 19.6 ppg and ranks fifth nationally with 7.0 apg. He is joined in double figures by Knapke (15.8 ppg), junior
Spencer Littleson (13.4 ppg) and redshirt freshman
Keshaun Saunders (11.8 ppg).
Knapke ranks second on the team with 8.8 rpg, trailing
Willie Jackson's MAC-best 12.4 rpg.
