Twelve Athletes Earn NFCA Scholar-Athlete Accolades

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced its 2019 list of Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes this wek. Following up on their athletic success this past season, the Toledo softball program earned NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete recognitions after posting a 3.53 grade-point average, the 31st-highest in Division I softball. Twelve members of the team were individually named Scholar-Athletes for their efforts off the diamond.

Kaitlyn Bergman, Megan Choate, Kaitlyn Cozy, Samantha Golden, Maggie McGurk, Raelyn Nyren, Morgan Paaverud, Heather Webb, Taylor Weekly and Rebekah Yenrick added to their academic accolades after earning scholar-athlete recognition from the NFCA. Sophomores Aubrey Reed and Bri Robeson also earned scholar-athlete accolades for the first time in their careers.

Across all divisions, more than 8,000 student-athletes were named 2019 NFCA Scholar-Athletes, the most in NFCA history. The NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honor recognizes teams that have achieved a grade-point average of 3.00 or higher, to be individually recognized athletes must post a 3.5 GPA or higher.
