EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Toledo women's tennis team concluded its participation at this week's ITA Midwest Regional in East Lansing, Mich. on Friday with an impressive doubles comeback that advanced senior Dee Dee Leenabanchong and sophomore Eileen Carney to the second round of doubles.

Leenabanchong/Carney fought back from a 5-0 deficit against Valparaiso's Olivia Czerwonka/Demi Jhaveri to post an 8-5 victory and and advance to the second round of doubles main draw. Leenabanchong/Carney then faced Michigan's Giulia Pairone/Chiara Lommer, but their tournament run was cut short as Pairone/Lommer took the win, 8-2.

"I think regionals was a great experience for our players," said head coach Tracy Mauntler. "We have so many new additions to our team this year that it's even more important to play great competition. I think Sloane Teske sticks out as really making the most of the tourney, and I'm excited to see how she progresses."

Teske earned a big three-set victory over Michigan's Lera Patiuk in the first round of singles during the ITA's opening day of play before falling short in the second round to Northwestern's Christina Hand.

Up Next
The Rockets will host Alumnae Day on Oct. 26 and will be back in action on Jan. 25 as they host Youngstown State at 1:00 p.m.
