Toledo, Ohio – The University of Toledo women's tennis team opens the spring portion of their season at Twos Athletic Club in Toledo with an exhibition match against Tiffin at 1:00 pm on Friday, Jan. 18 and a match against Valparaiso at 3:00 pm on Sunday, Jan. 20.
The Rockets kicked off their fall season in September with the BGSU Invitational where freshman Christiana Fuller emerged undefeated, maintaining a singles streak that wouldn't be snapped until mid-October at the ITA Midwest Regionals. Â Junior
Dee Dee Leenabanchong fought her way through the ITA Midwest Regional preliminary rounds, defeating DePaul's Marija Jovicic (6-3, 6-3) and No. 1 seeded Lera Patiuk from Michigan (2-6, 6-4, 6-4), and Detroit Mercy's Jasmine Apawti (6-3, 6-2), to earn a place in the main draw.

In early November, the Rockets flew down to Boca Raton, Fla. for the Mid-American Conference Fall Invitational. Doubles duos

Scouting Tiffin
The Dragons went 13-12 overall last season (6-4 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference), sweeping Ashland, Davenport, and Salem (WV). Tiffin returns a veteran team, with two seniors and four juniors. For the 2018-19 season Tiffin has joined the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. Friday's exhibition match will mark the first time Toledo will have faced Tiffin in women's tennis.

Last Time Against Valparaiso
Toledo last faced Valparaiso on Feb. 25, 2006, defeating the Crusaders 6-1. The Rockets earned the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions, and only dropped one match in singles where Valparaiso won by default.

Scouting Valparaiso
The Crusaders went 5-17 overall last season, with a 0-5 record in the Missouri Valley Conference. Valparaiso secured two non-conference sweeps on the road over IUPUI and Division II opponent Chaminade. Valparaiso will be opening the spring portion of their season at Toledo, returning six from last season's squad. Senior Randi Wind had six doubles victories and six singles victories and fellow senior Meg Modesto had seven singles victories and 13 doubles victories in the 2017-18 season.
