Toledo, Ohio – The University of Toledo men's tennis team opens its fall season at home with the Rocket Invitational, Friday-Sunday, Sept. 28 – 30. Matches will be held at the UT Varsity Tennis Courts and Shadow Valley Tennis Club in Maumee with play starting at 10:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Sunday' schedule is TBD.

This year's competitors include Duquesne, Western Michigan, Detroit Mercy, Youngstown State and Cleveland State.

Toledo hits the courts at 10:00 a.m. against Youngstown State on Friday with a senior-heavy class that includes Luka Vitosevic, Reid Teatsorth, Serjen Olmedo, Omar Espinosa and Juan Carranza. Juniors Thawin Suksathaporn and Danilo Vukotic as well as sophomore Nikola Arsic are also returning. Last season's No. 1 doubles team, Vitosevic and Vukotic, went 5-3 overall.

 "Our guys came in this fall with a great mindset and they've trained hard so far this year," head coach Al Wermer said. "We always add new methods to our program, and Coach Josh (graduate assistant Josh Page) has brought a lot of insight from his playing experience and coaching exposure on the ATP World Tour. We have a long way to go but I feel like these guys are committed to do great things this year—starting with our opening weekend at home."

The format of this weekend's tournament includes no team scoring, simultaneous singles and doubles play during each matchup. All matches will be best of three sets with a 10-point tie breaker in the third set. An all-tournament team will be announced at the end of the weekend.
