Columbus, Ohio - Senior Stephanie Barlow won the 3,000m steeplechase in 10:26.53 as Toledo wrapped up competition at the Jesse Owens Track Classic in Columbus. The Rockets set three personal bests, earned 11 Mid-American Conference qualifying times, finished first twice, and finished in the top-five nine times over two days of action.
"We had a solid second day of competition," head coach Linh Nguyen said. "Karoline Steppin, Janell Rowe and Atalia da Silva had great meets, and it was great to see Janelle Noe set a big personal record in the 800m after winning the 1500m last night.
"Barlow's win in the steeplechase was fantastic too," Nguyen added. "She ran tough and finished within a second of her personal record. Overall, the team showed up and competed hard, and I'm really proud of their efforts this weekend."
Toledo saw two student-athletes set personal records today. The first was Noe whose 2:10.45 in the 800m earned her eighth-place. The senior's time was almost six seconds faster than her previous and reached the MAC automatic qualifying mark. Rowe was the second. The freshman went 11.71m in the triple jump, earning fifth and beating her previous best by .04m.
The Rockets return to action Thursday when the team competes in the Ashland Invitational.
