Toledo Wraps Up Regular Season vs. Central Michigan at Home on Saturday

TOLEDO,Ohio - Toledo (17-12, 8-9 MAC) will wrap-up its regular season on Saturday, March 3 against Mid-American Conference West Division champion Central Michigan (24-4, 16-1 MAC). The opening tip is slated for 2:00 p.m. in Savage Arena and will be streamed live on ESPN3.
Prior to tomorrow's regular-season finale, UT's four seniors - Jay-Ann Bravo-Harriott, Michaela Rasmussen, Jada Woody and Nancy Kessler - will be honored. The Rockets will also recognize senior student manager Brianna Stewart, as well as senior student athletic trainer Krisha Conley as part of their pre-game festivities.
UT will meet CMU in its final league contest for the first time since the 2010-11 campaign and third time overall (2-0 in those games).
The Rockets are currently tied for sixth place with Western Michigan (15-14, 8-9 MAC) in the overall league standings. UT can finish as high as the No.5 seed or as low as No. 7 in next week's MAC Tournament.
If the regular season ended before tomorrow's division showdown, the Rockets would earn the No. 6 seed and host No. 11 seed Bowling Green (11-17, 3-14 MAC) on Monday, March 5 at 7:00 p.m. in the MAC tourney.
UT enters the regular-season finale on the heels of an 89-79 setback at Northern Illinois on Wednesday in the Convocation Center.
The Huskies (15-13, 7-10 MAC) shot 26-of-31 (83.9 percent) from the free throw line, while the Rockets connected on 7-of-14 (50.0 percent) to snap their three-game winning streak in the series.
In a back-and-forth game throughout the first three quarters, NIU took control of the contest early in the final 10 minutes.
The home team ripped off a pivotal 9-0 run to create a double-digit cushion, 67-57, with 7:32 left in regulation.
UT cut the deficit to five points, 67-62, on the strength of back-to-back layups from junior Mikaela Boyd at the midway point in the period, but NIU responded with a game-sealing 14-5 burst to establish an insurmountable lead. Â Â Â
Junior Kaayla McIntyre paced Toledo with 25 points and eight caroms in a team-tying high 37 minutes, topping the 20-point plateau for the third time in the last four games.
Boyd contributed 16 points, a game-high 12 caroms, four helpers, one rejection and two thefts in a squad-tying best 37 minutes to post her third-straight double-double, while sophomore Mariella Santucci added a season-high 15 points and a squad-high six dimes.
MAC Player of the Year candidate Courtney Woods led NIU with a season-high 38 points and 22 points from Kelly Smith to help them clinch a first-round home game in the MAC Tournament.
The Rockets, who are 11-2 at home, continue to be led offensively by trio of McIntyre (16.1 ppg), Bravo-Harriott (12.8 ppg) and Boyd (12.3 ppg).
Toledo will take on a streaking CMU squad which has won its last four games, including an 88-80 home triumph vs. Central Michigan on Wednesday. Presley Hudson led five Chippewas in double figures with 26 points, followed by Tinara Moore with 19 points and a game-high 11 boards.
CMU, which holds a 12-2 ledger away from home, features all five starters tallying at least 10.5 ppg and is led by Moore's 19.3 and Hudson's 18.7 ppg, respectively.

It will be attended by local girl's high school basketball team members, coaches, substance use prevention agencies, youth service organizations, parents, and clients.
