Rockets Returning to Florida for Mission Inn Spring Spectacular

TOLEDO, Ohio - Toledo returns to the sunny climate of Florida to compete in the sixth-annual Mission Inn Spring Spectacular on Saturday-Sunday, March 17-18. The two-day event will be played on the par-72, 6,834-yard El Campeón Course at the Mission Inn Golf Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. The 54-hole tourney will consist of a shotgun start of 8:30 a.m. each day with 36 holes being played on Saturday followed by the final round on Sunday.
UT features a balanced lineup with five Rockets posting 74.1 stroke averages or lower. Sophomore Joe Bryce leads the way with a 72.6 scoring mark and is followed by junior Duncan McNeill (73.5), sophomore Thomas Thurloway (73.6), senior Colin Joseph (73.8) and senior Stephen Watts (74.1).

THE FIELD
• Fourteen schools are participating in the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular.
• Joining Toledo in the event will be Bethune-Cookman, Florida A&M, Florida Atlantic, Hofstra, Indiana, Lehigh, Murray State, Presbyterian, Princeton's A & B teams, TCU, USC Upstate and host George Mason.
ROCKETS AT THE MISSION INN SPRING SPECTACULAR
• Toledo is competing in the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular for the third year in a row.
• The Rockets tied for seventh place last year with a score of 918. Bryce paced UT at 12-over par 228 (77-78-73) and tied for 28th place.
• In 2016, UT finished ninth with a 901 total. Former Rocket Otto Black (70-74-79) and Watts (70-72-81) led Toledo at seven-over par 223 to finish tied for 26th place.
LOOKING BACK AT THE FORT LAUDERDALE INTERCOLLEGIATE
• Toledo just missed capturing their first tournament title of the season by finishing only three strokes behind team champion Austin Peay. UT placed second with a two-over par 866.
• Bryce and McNeill were the Rockets' top two performers in the tourney at one-under par 215 to finish tied for fourth place.
• Thurloway also produced a solid tournament by tying for 12th place at two-over par 218.
• Rounding out the Rockets' lineup was Joseph tied for 21st place at four-over par 220 and Watts tied for 39th place at eight-over par 224.
ON THE HORIZON
• Toledo will return to action on Sunday-Monday, March 25-26 at the Seahawk Intercollegiate in Wilmington, N.C.
