MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Toledo (15-9, 6-6 MAC) returns to the road on Saturday, Feb. 10 for a match-up at Mid-American Conference West Division leader Central Michigan (19-3, 11-0 MAC). Game time is slated for 1:00 p.m. in McGuirk Arena and will be streamed live on ESPN3.
The Rockets have tallied a 3-1 (.750) record against division foes this year and are 69-34 (.670) over the last nine-plus seasons under head coach Tricia Cullop.
UT, which currently sits in fourth place in MAC West Division standings, is coming off a 67-58 setback at Miami on Wednesday in Millett Hall.
The RedHawks (15-8, 7-5 MAC) utilized a pivotal 12-2 run over the final 2:11 in regulation to snap an 11-game losing skid against the Midnight Blue & Gold.Â
Junior Mikaela Boyd paced the 2017 MAC Champions with 18 points, six boards, five helpers and four thefts to score in double figures for a season-best ninth-consecutive contest.
The Rockets also received double-doubles from junior Kaayla McIntyre (12 pts., 10 reb.) and sophomore Mariella Santucci (11 pts., career-high 10 reb.), as well as seven points from redshirt freshman Tanaya Beacham in a tightly contested contest that featured six ties and 14 lead changes.
As a team, Toledo shot 43.9 percent (25-of-57) from the field, including 0-of-8 from three-point land, and 47.1 percent (8-of-17) from the charity stripe. The last time UT did not make a triple occurred against IPFW on Nov. 29, 2008.
UT, which is 6-7 in games away from home, will face a streaking CMU squad coming off a hard-fought 74-72 victory at Ohio on Wednesday. Presley Hudson led three Chippewas in double figures with 22 points.Â
Reigning MAC West Division Player of the Week Tinara Moore added 18 points, 15 caroms and four blocked shots, while Reyna Frost had 16 points, 15 boards and six dimes to remain the league's only unbeaten team.
Central Michigan showcases an offense with all five starters averaging at least 10.5 points per game fueled by Moore's and Hudson's 18.5 and 18.3 ppg, respectively.
Tomorrow's match-up will pit UT's stingy defense against CMU's high-powered offense.Â
Toledo is currently third in scoring defense (68.8 ppg), sixth in overall field-goal percentage defense (.416, 298-of-716) and fifth in three-point field-goal percentage defense (.303, 59-of-195) in league games, while Central Michigan is first in scoring offense (83.5 ppg) and overall field-goal percentage (.473, 321-of-679) and second in three-point field-goal percentage (.372, 99-of-266).
