Nine Rockets Earn Academic All-MAC Honors

The Toledo women's volleyball team placed nine student-athletes on the 2018 Academic All-MAC team, tied with Akron and Ball State for the most in the conference.

2018 Academic All-MAC Honorees

Toledo, Ohio — The University of Toledo women's volleyball team placed nine student-athletes on the Academic All-MAC list, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Caleigh Barhorst, Zoe Birnbrich, Lynnea Clay, Chloee Kleespies, Maurissa Leonard, Rhyen Neal, Andrea Stephenson, Emma Swope, and Carly Townsend represented the Rockets as honorees. This marked the third Academic All-MAC award for Leonard, Stephenson and Townsend, and the first honor for the other six student-athletes.

Toledo tied with Akron and Ball State in leading the MAC with nine honorees. A total of 84 student-athletes were named to this year's Academic All-MAC squad.

The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
