Toledo Closes Out Fall at Saint Mary's Invitational

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Sophomore Dylan Van Fossen fired a season-best one-under par 70 on Wednesday as Toledo wrapped up its fall campaign at the Saint Mary's Invitational. The tournament was played at the par-71, 6,945-yard Poppy Hills Golf Club and included five teams ranked in Golfstat's Top 50 computer rankings.

Toledo finished in 18th place at 57-over par 909. USC captured the team title by shooting an impressive 19-under par 265 to finish at 21-under 831. BYU entered the final round in first place at 19-under but finished second with a 13-under par 839 (271-278-290). The Cougars' Peter Kuest earned medalist honors with a 13-under par 200 (61-69-70).

Van Fossen tallied three birdies and a bogey in his first seven holes and made the turn at two-under par. Following a double bogey on No. 10, he closed out UT's best round of the tourney with seven pars and a birdie on No. 15. Van Fossen was competing as an individual and tied for 72nd place at 13-over par 226 (76-80-70).

Junior Rasmus Broholt Lind registered the Rockets' best finish by tying for 51st place at nine-over par 222 (71-78-73). Trailing Lind by three strokes were senior Duncan McNeill (75-74-76) and sophomore Grant Godfrey (74-72-79) tied for 63rd place at 12-over par 225.

Rounding out the Rocket lineup were senior Spencer Shoemaker in 102nd place at 19-over par 161 (79-82) and sophomore Jack Boczar in 103rd place at 21-over par 163 (85-78).
