Boca Raton, Fla. – The Toledo women's tennis team wrapped the fall portion of its season in Florida over the weekend as UT competed in the Mid-American Conference Fall Invitational. UT's doubles pairs of Thalita Rodrigues/Kokoro Chishaki and Christina Fuller/Claire Aleck both reached the finals in the Rockets' final outing.

The Rockets put on a strong showing in doubles, with duos Thalita Rodrigues/Kokoro Chishaki and Christina Fuller/Claire Aleck fighting their way to the finals. Rodrigues/Chishaki started off with a bye before bagging a win over Buffalo's Pia Schwarz/Arianna Paules Aldrey (7-5). The senior duo fell to Akron's Sophia Geier/Anna Uljanov in the Flight B finals 7-5.

Senior/freshman duo Fuller/Aleck took victories over Buffalo's Mercedes Losada Rubio/Emel Abibula (6-1) and Akron's Luisa Echeverryl/Holland Long (6-4) before falling to Buffalo's Sanjana Sudhir/Gabriella Klovovich (6-3) in the Flight C finals.

In singles play, Aleck defeated Northern Illinois' Mary Green (6-1, 6-1) before falling to Buffalo's Gabriella Klovovich (7-6(5), 6-4). Aleck played Northern Illinois' Lara Slisko for Flight F's third place, defeating Slisko in two matches (6-3, 6-1).

"This tournament was a great experience for our players," said head coach Tracy Mauntler, "We had some extremely competitive matches along with invaluable team bonding over the last four days. We have such a young team and this tournament was extremely motivating to see some MAC opponents in the fall."

The Rockets resume their season Jan 18 when they face Tiffin at home. Conference play resumes Mar 22 at Northern Illinois.
