UT Travels to BGSU on Saturday Looking to Get Back on Winning Track

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Toledo (13-7, 4-4 MAC) will look to get back on the winning track on Saturday, Jan. 27 when the 2017 Mid-American Conference Champions travel to arch-rival Bowling Green (10-9, 2-6 MAC). Game time is slated for 2:00 p.m. in the Stroh Center and will be streamed live on ESPN3.Â
UT has dropped its last two contests against MAC East Division leader Buffalo, 87-69, and most recently Kent State, 62-55. The Rockets were hurt by turnovers and poor shooting from the outside in the losses, averaging 20.5 miscues and connecting on only 26.3 percent (10-of-38) from three-point land.
Toledo currently sits in fifth place in the MAC West Division standings, four games behind leader Central Michigan (15-3, 7-0 MAC) and one contest below second-place Ball State (16-3, 5-3 MAC), Western Michigan (12-8, 5-3 MAC) and Eastern Michigan (9-10, 5-3 MAC).
On Wednesday, the Golden Flashes won the MAC cross-division contest at the free throw line to snap UT's 15-game home winning streak, the sixth-longest unbeaten stretch in school history. KSU converted 30-of-38 (78.9 percent) at the charity stripe, while the Rockets shot 12-of-18 (66.7 percent). Â
Junior Mikaela Boyd paced UT with 19 points and a game-high 13 boards to post her fifth double-double over the last seven games. Boyd filled up the stat sheet against the reigning MAC East Champions, tallying a contest-best five helpers and a game-tying high three steals in a contest-best 39 minutes.
Sophomore Mariella Santucci was the only other Rocket in double figures with a season-tying best 13 points off the bench.
Junior Kaayla McIntyre chipped in with eight points, 10 caroms, a game-high three rejections and a contest-tying best three steals in 35 minutes. Despite the solid numbers across the board, McIntyre was held under 10 points for the first time in the last 17 games.
As a team, the Rockets were limited to 31.7 percent (19-of-60) from the floor, including 21.7 percent (5-of-23) from three-point land.
Jordan Korinek led KSU with a game-high 30 points and 11 rebounds. Korinek did a majority of the damage at the line, shooting 17-of-18 to help KSU record its first win in Savage Arena since Jan. 27, 2007.
Toledo, which is 4-6 away from home, continues to be fueled offensively by the trio of McIntyre, Boyd and senior Jay-Ann Bravo-Harriott, who are tallying 14.9, 11.5 and 11.4 ppg, respectively.Â
The Rockets will take on a Bowling Green team which has split its last four contests, most recently suffering an 82-41 setback at Ball State on Wednesday. Kennedy Williams and Madisen Parker paced the Falcons with seven points each against the Cardinals.

BGSU, which is 5-4 at home this season, features four players scoring at least 9.0 ppg and is led by All-MAC candidate Carly Santoro's 13.4 ppg, 9.5 rpg and 1.7 spg.
UT and BGSU will meet for the only time during the regular season and 77th time overall. Bowling Green leads the all-time series, 42-34, but Toledo has won four in a row and seven of the last eight match-ups against its cross-division rival. The Rockets are also in the midst of a four-game road winning streak versus the Falcons in Wood County. Â Â
Toledo has outscored Bowling Green by 13.3 ppg (70.3-57.0) during the four-game winning streak. In addition, three of UT's victories have been by at least 14 points.Â
As a team, UT is shooting 45.7 percent (96-of-210) from the field during the unbeaten stretch, including 39.7 percent (23-of-58) from three-point land, and 72.5 percent (66-of-91) from the charity stripe.

Defensively, Toledo has limited BGSU to 38.4 percent (83-of-216) from the floor, including 24.1 percent (20-of-83) from beyond the arc, and 70.3 percent (52-of-74) from the free throw line.
The Midnight Blue & Gold is also outrebounding Bowling Green by 5.7 rpg (37.5-31.8) and dishing out an additional 5.3 apg (12.8-7.5) in posting its longest winning streak in the series since winning four in a row from 1998-2000.
