Toledo Hosts Reigning MAC East Division Champion Kent State on Wednesday

TOLEDO, OH - Toledo (13-6, 4-3 MAC) will play one of only two home games over the course of the next three weeks on Wednesday, Jan. 24 when it hosts reigning Mid-American Conference East Division champion Kent State (9-10, 2-5 MAC). Tip-off time is slated for 7:00 p.m. in Savage Arena and will be televised on ESPN3.
UT has tallied a 2-2 ledger against MAC East Division opponents so far this season and sports a 57-20 (.740) mark versus cross-division foes over the last nine-plus seasons under head coach Tricia Cullop.
The Midnight Blue & Gold currently sits tied for third place in the competitive MAC West Division standings, three games behind frontrunner Central Michigan (15-3, 7-0 MAC). Five of the six teams in the division have a 4-3 record or better in the league standings.
The Rockets are also a perfect 9-0 at the friendly confines of Savage Arena this year and in the midst of a 15-game home winning streak, the sixth-longest home unbeaten stretch in school history.
Toledo enters tomorrow's match-up on the heels of Saturday's 87-69 setback at MAC East Division leader Buffalo (15-3, 6-1 MAC).
Junior Kaayla McIntyre paced the 2017 MAC Champions with 19 points against the Bulls, followed by junior Mikaela Boyd and sophomore Sara Rokkanen with 13 each. UT also received a season-high eight points from redshirt freshman Tanaya Beacham.
The Rockets shot 45.6 percent (26-of-57) from the field and 70.6 percent (12-of-17) from the charity stripe, but those respectable numbers were overshadowed by 25 turnovers. UB Â took full advantage of miscues, converting them into 22 points to end Toledo's three-game winning streak. Â Â
Cierra Dillard led Buffalo with a career-high 30 points and seven steals. Katherine Ups added 14 points, while Stephanie Reid dished out a game-high 10 assists to stop UB's four-game losing skid against Toledo.
Toledo continues to be fueled offensively by the trio of McIntyre, senior Jay-Ann Bravo-Harriott and Boyd, who are averaging 15.2, 11.5 and 11.1 ppg, respectively. In MAC games, the aforementioned group is contributing a whopping 65.0 percent (297 of 457) of UT's scoring and 58.2 percent (160 of 275) of its rebounding.
