TOLEDO, Ohio – The third and final round of the 2017 Inverness Intercollegiate was cancelled on Tuesday due to heavy rain and lightning. Play began at 8:30 a.m. this morning with a shotgun start. After lightning was spotted in the area, the round was suspended at 8:43 a.m. with the final decision to not play the final round made at 10:15 a.m.
Thirty-six holes were played on Monday and the team title and medalist honors determined by the leaders following Round Two. St. Mary's earned the team title with a 10-under par 558 (280-278), finishing one stroke ahead of Michigan State (276-283=559). Oklahoma State's Nick Heinen (68-66) and the Spartans' Kaleb Johnson (65-69) tied for first place at eight-under par 134.
Toledo placed 12th at 17-over par 585 (296-289) with senior
Stephen Watts and sophomore
Joe Bryce topping the Rockets at four-over par 146 to finish tied for 43
rd place.
UT returns to action on Sunday-Monday, October 8-9 when it travels to South Bend, Ind. to compete in Notre Dame's Fighting Irish Classic.
