
Rockets Heading to Indiana for Notre Dame’s Fighting Irish Classic

TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo returns from a nearly three-week break when it travels to Notre Dame, Ind. for the 12th annual Fighting Irish Classic on Sunday-Monday, Oct. 8-9. The tournament will consist of 54 holes with 36 holes beginning on Sunday with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start and the final 18 holes on Monday commencing with tee times at 8:30 a.m.
THE FIELD
• Thirteen schools are participating in the Fighting Irish Classic. The tournament will be played at the University of Notre Dame's par-71, 7,020-yard Warren Golf Course in Notre Dame, Ind.
• Joining Toledo in the event will be Dayton, DePaul, Drake, Fort Wayne, Georgetown, Georgia Southern, Oakland, Utah State, Western Illinois, William & Mary, Xavier and the host Fighting Irish.

ROCKETS AT THE FIGHTING IRISH CLASSIC
• Toledo has made one appearance at the Fighting Irish Classic, finishing in ninth place in 2012.
• UT's lineup this weekend will include senior Colin Joseph at #1, senior Stephen Watts at #2, junior Duncan McNeill at #3, sophomore Grant Godfrey at #4 and freshman Dylan Van Fossen at #5. Junior Spencer Shoemaker will participate in the event as an individual.
LOOKING BACK AT THE INVERNESS INTERCOLLEGIATE
• Toledo posted a 12th-place finish with a team score of 17-over par 585 at the rain-shortened Inverness Intercollegiate (Sept. 18-19). After 36 holes were played on the first day, the final round was cancelled due to heavy rain and thunderstorms.
• Saint Mary's edged Michigan State by one stroke to capture the team title at 10-under par 558.
• Stephen Watts and sophomore Joe Bryce paced the Rockets by tying for 43rd place at four-over par 146.
• Dylan Van Fossen was one shot behind the aforementioned duo at five-over par 147 and tied for 49th place.
• Sophomore Thomas Thurloway and Duncan McNeill also were in UT's lineup and tied for 69th and 79th place, respectively.
• Spencer Shoemaker competed as an individual and carded the best score by a Rocket at one-over par 143 to tie for 25th place.
ON THE HORIZON
• Toledo will return to action on Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 16-17 with a trip to Carmel, Ind. for the Crooked Stick Invitational.
