Toledo Downs Illinois State, 7-0

TOLEDO, OH – Toledo swept Illinois State, 7-0, on Sunday afternoon at the Shadow Valley Tennis Club. With the win, the Rockets improve to 7-5 on the season.
"The guys had a great professional attitude and brought intensity to the matches today," said Head Coach Al Wermer. "I think we're improving and I think that we're in a good place right now, poised to peak for MAC season."
Sophomores Vince Anzalone and Serjen Olmedo downed ISU, 6-0, at second doubles, while senior Stjepan Sisko and freshman Ernie Suksathaporn returned to their usual post at No. 1 doubles to claim a 4-3 victory over their opponents.
In the singles competition, every Rocket up and down the lineup recorded a victory over their opponent. Sisko, Anzalone, Suksathaporn and sophomore Reid Teatsorth all recorded straight-set wins.
Sophomore Luka Vitosevic jumped out front in his opening set at the No. 3 spot, 6-4, but ISU's Egehan Sertkaya knotted the score at one set apiece with a 7-5 victory in Set 2. The Rocket sophomore was able to pull through with a 10-8 victory in the final battle to claim the match.
Toledo return to the courts on Wednesday, Feb. 22 for a Noon matchup against the Detroit Mercy.
