Toledo Competes in Final Meet Before MAC Championships

TOLEDO, OH - The Toledo track and field team competes in their last meet before the Mid-American Conference Championships on Friday, Feb. 10 and Saturday, Feb. 11 at the SPIRE DI Invitational in Geneva, OH.

Last year at SPIRE was a day of personal records for the Rockets. Jennifer Lichter and Stephanie Barlow ran personal-best times of 9:52.57 and 9:59.32, respectively, in the mile.

Olivia Chinn ran a personal best 4:58.79 in the mile, while Joan Jepkirui qualified for the MAC Championship in the 5000-meters in a time of 16:56.46.

In their last meet, the Meyo Invitational, the Rockets attacked a competitive meet with a great performance. Madeline Pacella finished second in the high jump and Alexa Jarrett placed ninth in the pole vault to lead the Rocket jumpers.

Petronela Simiuc qualified for the MAC Championship in the 800-meters with a time of 4:52.64 and Stephanie Barlow ran a personal-best time of 17:10.17 in the 5000-meters to finish 25th. The distance medley relay team of Olivia Chinn, Dandadeua da Silva, Maja Pacaric and Joan Jepkirui clocked in at 11:45.53 which is the second best time in the MAC this season.

Eastern Michigan will host the 2017 Indoor MAC Championship on Friday, Feb. 24 and Saturday, Feb. 25. The Rockets have automatically qualified for 10 events at this point in the season.
