
Toledo signs five new recruits for 2017-18 academic year.

Toledo, Ohio – Head women's tennis coach Tracy Mauntler and the coaching staff announced Monday the additions of Kokoro Chishaki, Thalita Rodrigues, Kiersten Carlson, Eileen Carney and Chrissy Fuller for the 2018-19 academic year.
"This recruiting class is definitely the strongest group I've had in the past 15 years," Mauntler said about her five signees. "It says a lot about the program, the current players, and the direction we are headed that we have attracted this level of talent to Toledo."
Kokoro Chishaki:Â Joining the Rockets in Jan. 2018...Junior-college transfer from St. Petersburg College in Florida...Originally from Japan...Teamed with her doubles partner to win the NJCAA national doubles title in May 2017...St. Petersburg finished third in the nation in the NJCAA last year...Has an 8.58 UTR (Universal Tennis Rating).
Coach Mauntler on Kokoro: "Koko brings some of the quickest hands I've ever seen to Toledo. Her doubles knowledge and experience are far beyond her years and something that can't be taught. Â She's an overachiever in everything she does."

Thalita Rodrigues: Joining the Rockets in Jan. 2018..Junior-college transfer from Seward Community College...Seward finished sixth in the nation in NJCAA last year...Ended season ranked fourth in the nation in singles for the NJCAA...Has an 8.44 UTR.
Coach Mauntler on Thalita: "Thalita completely blew me away when I watched her compete. She lays absolutely everything out on the court and she will thrive in this environment at Toledo."

Kiersten Carlson: Joining the Rockets in Aug. 2018...Senior at Carmel HS in Carmel, Ind...Fourth-ranked player in the state of Indiana and a 4-star recruit according to tennisrecruiting.net...Has an 8.96 UTR...Teamed with her doubles partner Kollie Allen (2018 Ohio State signee) to win the Midwest Closed doubles championship in Indianapolis, Ind. this past summer.
Coach Mauntler on Kiersten: "Kiersten is a difference maker. Her athleticism and tennis IQ are sky high. Kiersten also brings an infectious positive spirit with her to Toledo that will make her an awesome teammate."

Eileen Carney: Joining the Rockets in Aug. 18...Senior at Joliet HS in Illinois..12th-ranked player in the state of Illinois which is considered an extremely strong area for junior tennis in the United States...Eileen is a 3-star recruit according to tennisrecruiting.net...Has a 8.47 UTR.
Coach Mauntler on Eileen: "Eileen immediately impressed me with her court presence. She is such a feisty competitor and she makes her opponents earn every point. We are lucky to have her on our side because I would not want to compete against her."

Chrissy Fuller: Joining the Rockets in Aug. 2018...Senior at Castle High school in Newburg, Ind...Fifth-ranked player in the state of Indiana and a 3-star recruit according to tennisrecruiting.net...Has an 8.76 UTR.
Coach Mauntler on Chrissy: "Chrissy has an impressive work ethic coupled with a burning passion for tennis. Those two qualities will be dangerous in our team setting.  Chrissy is the type of player who will do whatever it takes to be successful."
