OXFORD, Ohio - The Toledo men's cross country team finished ninth in the Mid-American Conference Championships on Saturday morning at the Miami Cross Country Course.
"We're disappointed with the result today," said Toledo head coach Linh Nguyen. "The team has made great strides in fitness and training, but we haven't turned that into race performance."
The Rockets were led by sophomore Dismas Koech, who finished in 35th place. Koech clocked a 25:41.7 as the first UT runner to cross the finish line.
Senior Alberto Chelimo and junior Titus Koech were next across the finish line for the Rockets in 36th and 39th place, respectively. Chelimo stopped the clock at 25:43.1, while Koech finished in 25:48.6.
Rounding out the Toledo scoring was senior Stalline Kurgat in 26:13.2 and freshman Daniel Kemboi in 26:44.0. Kurgat placed 54th, while Kemboi came in at 68th place.
"The only thing we can do is try to get back at it in two weeks," said Nguyen.
The Rockets will compete in the Great Lakes Regionals on Friday, Nov. 10 in Terre Haute, Ind.
