Toledo Stands in 12th Place Following Opening Two Rounds of Boilermaker Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE, IN – Toledo sits in 12th place after 36 holes at the Boilermaker Invitational on Saturday. The two-day tourney is being played at the Kampen Course (Par-72, 7,465 Yards).
The Rockets fired rounds of 294 and 302 for a mark of 20-over par 596. Second ranked Illinois is currently leading the 15-team field after recording rounds of 280 and 277 for a tally of 19-under par 557, 13 strokes ahead of host Purdue at six-under par 570 (284-286).
UT is paced by senior Otto Black, who is tied for ninth place at one-under par 143 (70-73). Black was credited with a squad-best six birdies on the day, including five in this morning's opening round. The three-time All-MAC performer is eight shots behind frontrunner Illinois' Charlie Danielson at nine-under par 135 (70-65). There are currently 11 golfers under par among the 84 players in the event.
Sophomore Stephen Watts is the next closest Rocket at six-over par 150 (73-77) to stand tied for 47th place. Immediately below Watts are the duo of sophomore Colin Joseph at seven-over par 151 (75-76) and freshman Spencer Shoemaker at eight-over par 152 (76-76) to sit tied for 51st and tied for 58th spots, respectively. Rounding out UT's lineup is senior Thomas Shindler, who stands at 20-over par 164 (80-84), good for 84th place.
The third and final round of the two-day tourney will be held on Sunday, with Toledo's tee times beginning at 8:35 a.m. off hole No. 10. The Rockets will be paired with Ohio State and Northern Illinois during the final 18 holes of competition.
