Toledo Finishes in 12th Place at Hoosier Collegiate at Otter Creek

COLUMBUS, IN – Toledo finished in 12th place at the inaugural Hoosier Collegiate at Otter Creek on Sunday at the Otter Creek Golf Course (Par-72, 7,199 Yards). Â
The Rockets battled cold temperatures and strong winds for a second-straight day, posting a team score of 28-over par 604 (301-303) over 36 holes and trailed team champions Purdue (291-287=578) and Mid-American Conference member Miami (297-281=578) by 26 strokes.
Individually, senior Otto Black led UT at even-par 144 (73-71) to finish in a three-way tie for seventh place in the shortened event. Black recorded five birdies in today's final round en route to becoming the Rockets' top finisher in a fourth-consecutive event this spring. Â Â
Sophomore Stephen Watts (73-77) finished six strokes behind Black at six-over par 150 to tie for 36th place, followed by freshman Jamie Knipe (77-79) at 12-over par 156 to tie for 58th spot. Rounding out Toledo's lineup was sophomore Colin Joseph (78-79) and senior Thomas Shindler (81-76) who each shot 13-over par 157 to tie for 61st place.
Miami's Patrick Flavin (72-68) captured medalist accolades at four-under par 140 to post a one-stroke triumph over Xavier's Jose Montano (74-67), Cincinnati's Emerson Newsome (73-68) and Purdue's Luis Fernando Barco (72-69) at three-under par 141.
The Rockets will return to the links on Saturday-Sunday, April 16-17 when they compete in the Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, IN.
