Toledo Finishes in 15th Place at FAU Slomin Autism Invite

LAKE WORTH, FL – Toledo finished in 15th place at the FAU Slomin Autism Invite on Sunday. The three-day tournament took place on the North Course at the Fountains Country Club (Par-71, 6,876 Yards) and was hosted by Florida Atlantic University.
The Rockets posted a team score of 35-over par 887 (300-292-294) over 54 holes, 46 shots behind team champion Ole Miss (281-277-283) at 11-under par 841.
Senior Otto Black (70-71-74) paced UT at two-over par 215 and tied for 20th place. Black has now been the Rockets' top finisher in each of the first three tourneys this spring.
Sophomore Colin Joseph (79-71-73) finished eight strokes behind Black at 10-over par 223 and tied for the 61st spot, followed by freshman Jamie Knipe (78-73-72) at 11-over par 224 to finish tied for 67th place. Knipe posted Toledo's best round of the day, shooting one-over par 72 to jump three spots.
Rounding out Toledo's lineup were senior Thomas Shindler (76-77-75) at 15-over par 228 to sit tied for 77th place and sophomore Stephen Watts (76-78-77) at 18-over par 231 to place tied for 83rd spot, respectively.
Ole Miss ran away with the team title and posted an 11-stroke victory over runner-up Connecticut (276-288-288).
Individually, the trio of Central Florida's Manuel Elvira (72-64-69), Miami's Patrick Flavin (70-66-69) and Ole Miss' Braden Thornberry (69-67-69) shared medalist honors at eight-under par 205.
The Rockets will return to the links on April 9-10 when they compete in the Otter Creek Invitational in Columbus, IN.
