Toledo Falls to Miami, 4-2, in Third-Place Match at Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play Event

DADE CITY, FL – Toledo dropped a 4-2 decision to Miami in the third-place match on Tuesday to conclude play at this week's season-opening Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play event. Ball State University served as the tournament's host at the Lake Jovita Country Club (Par 72, 7,153 Yards).

Sophomores Colin Joseph (1 Up) posted UT's lone victory against the No. 1 seed RedHawks this morning and finished tied with classmate Stephen Watts for the team lead with two wins in three matches. Freshman Cameron Mills and Watts also earned one half point each for the Midnight Blue & Gold versus Miami, finishing their matches all squared.

In Monday's action, the Rockets defeated No. 6 seed Dayton, 3.5-2.5, and tied No. 2 seed Notre Dame, 3-3. The match against the Fighting Irish was ultimately decided based upon UND's combined 12-hole lead from Miguel Delgado (7 & 5) and Kevin Conners (5 & 4).

UT will return to the links on Monday-Tuesday, March 7-8 when it participates in the Colleton River Collegiate in Bluffton, SC.
